Membership of the scheme is open to doctors in Somerset with an interest in pre-hospital emergency care.
To become an active responder for the group you will have to be recommended by the SAVES Medical Committee to the BASICS South West Committee. They will consider your for accreditation and, if succesful recommend you to the Medical Director of the Ambulance Service as a Medical Responder. As a minimum, actively responding doctors must be fully registered with at least 3 years experience since full registration. They should hold a certificate in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care or equivalent (we will help with funding the course for this qualification) and have engaged with the scheme's CPD programme.. Active doctors must have appropriate medical indemnity insurance andbe members of The British Association for Immediate Care (BASICS)
Associate Membership of the scheme is open to Paramedics and Nurses who are responders for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust in Somerset. Associate Members are equipped and approved by the ambulance service rather than SAVES but are welcome to attend the regular SAVES educational and development meetings.
Lay persons who would be interested in getting involved in SAVES management, fundraising and support functions would be very welcome.
